For someone who has never really learned how to sew, I’ve been sewing quite a bit as of late! I made this book bag for my friend, Trish, who’s birthday was earlier this month. Trish’s personality is bright and exuberant, but her preference is for neutral, subtle, and calming colors. She likes fresh, crisp, and elegantly simple. Like newly laundered linens catching the warm breezes of Spring is the transformation Trish has know in her life through the purifying work of Christ. How appropriate it is, then, to create a handy bag for her Bible and books, that takes backstage as her servant’s heart shines.

Taking a twist on classic, I constructed this bag out of a natural linen with black ticking, and linen with printed black Chinese calligraphy. The words echo blessings of health and happiness…for this birthday and the year to come.

Wow, it’s beautiful. Not to mention the thoughts you put into it also. I wish I know how to sew and make gifts like that for family and friends, because it carries more sentimental value when one takes the time to make it herself.

I love this, especially all the thought that you put into it to make it so meaningful and personal. I know your friend will love it.

Oh wow, I absolutely love that bag you made and how each detail of it has significance…

Thank you so much for your comment on my blog. I have just started reading Idols of the Heart, and I am thrilled that you are using it in a Bible study (in light of that particular post I wrote especially!). I have not actually read Feminine Appeal personally, but I have used it as a resource on a paper in the past, as well as hearing very good things about it.

Elyse Fitzpatrick is going to be hosting a seminary on campus tomorrow, and I can’t wait! Be on the lookout for reflections or notes on what she discusses. It’s for women only, and there is going to be a Q&A following the seminar for females who are counseling majors only. (Not to mention a book signing on Friday afternoon!)

Thanks again, and I look forward to reading more of your blog in the future! Grace and peace~
