As often is the case, the best Korean food in the city can be found in the back of a tiny unassuming Korean market where the use of English is almost never heard. We took the boys there for lunch, and to our amusement, they loved it, and devoured the Gim-Bahp and Bulgogi. Mr. Simons and I split a Dolsot Bibimbap, and it was delish. Our meal was served with traditional sides of cabbage and cucumber kimchi, which, by the way, Judah eats enthusiastically just before chasing it down with big gulps of boricha. In case you’re wondering, the kids do eat almost any ethnic food–at least that’s our goal. They do occasionally struggle with meatloaf, however.

And Judah finished everyone’s leftovers…

…and kept going…

and going, until there wasn’t a scrap of rice left.

I always enjoy places like that. Of course, here in the southeast it’s hole-in-the-wall BBQ joints and southern cooking kitchens!

I admire how adventurous you guys are with food, especially that the kids seem to enjoy it as much as you do.

Regarding choking down meatloaf… last night both of my boys voiced displeasure over spaghetti (of all things), apparently it is too “mixed up.”

This totally cracks me up! My kids can be heard in the freezer section of our local grocery store begging, “Pleeease can I have spinach and brussel sprouts? I HATE peas and carrots! Eeeew!” The more “ethnic” or “bizarre” the better for my kiddos.

As always, if an Aboriginal child can devour witchety grubs and find them to be fabulous, then there is no reason to cater to a child whose whine is for chicken nuggets. They can be taught to eat anything. Our little future missionaries~!
