A good photograph can tell a story or convey a mood in such a unique way.  Today, our family made a special purchase we’ve saved up for in cash!  We purchased our first “real” camera–a Nikon D60–just in time for the upcoming little toes, wrinkled nose, and tiny yawns.  Now that we’ve made the leap from a point and shoot, I finally feel as if I can capture more accurately what it is my mind’s eye actually sees.  I’m an artist, and a storyteller…it is a wonder I’ve never taken up photography.  In honor of good photography, compliments of a great photographer, I’m posting photos of some previous events.

I never shared about the diaper bag I made for my dear friend who had this adorable baby a few months ago.  I absolutely loved how it turned out, with its vibrant assortment of Amy Butler fabrics.  I didn’t follow a pattern, or record how I made it…so it’s truly one of a kind, not to be repeated again!

Abby’s baby shower two weekends ago was festively Fall and deliciously warm…which my camera could not capture.  Here are some much better photos of the event.

My sweet sis-in-law getting ready to reveal the baby sling.

Chocolate and caramel apples on a Fall menu, of course.

How much do I love Trader Joe’s?

A surprisingly delectable butternut squash soup with cheese ravioli and a touch of red chile…

…finished with a drizzle of molasses….mmmm.

Girl-food extraordinaire:  chocolate covered strawberries with almonds!

Baked brie encroute, again.

And with the aroma of mulled cider, this was a perfectly cozy shower.

A Nikon D60 is what I received last month for my birthday (a major surprise… I’d been quietly saving pennies to purchase one eventually, but my husband championed my dream!). As you learn to use it I hope that you will come to love it as much as I love mine.

I enjoyed seeing the beautiful bag and the beautifully delicious party… can’t wait to see photos of a beautiful baby!

girl, you are good. i might need to come over and take some lessons from you. although i think we have similar styles. you seem to just make stuff up as you go and i tend to do that as well. following patterns isn’t my forte. i start to follow and then end up doing my own thing and somehow it works itself out. LOVE, love your stuff! good luck with boy #4! i will be praying for a safe and quick delivery!

Hi Ruth, I just looked at these photos closely. What a lovely shower! I was particularly nosy about the food. I tried to enlarge the picture to see what was served and couldn’t quite make everything out. ;) Would you mind sharing the type of salad, and other snacks you had? I am getting ready to have a fellowship here and would love to serve some of those things. I know you are very busy these days so only if you have time.:)

    Blessings to your family.

Kim–Let’s see…the menu included: spinach salad with cranberries and pecans, caramel chex mix, caramel apples dipped in chocolate, chocolate covered strawberries, rustic bread, butternut squash soup, vegetable soup, pumpkin-granola pudding, pumpkin cookies, zucchini bread, and baked brie encroute with crackers…oh, and mulled apple cider. It was so Fall and comforting…I highly recommend this theme for a gathering. Hope you have a wonderful fellowship!

Thank you for taking the time to let me know! It all sounds so wonderful and over-the-top yummy!! I will be googling some of the things that sound unfamiliar.

Thank you again and thanks for adding me on face book.I hope we can be friends at that level and that I can be in some way an encouragement to you as you have been to me already!
