The earth is the LORD'S, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it. -Psalm 24:1

  • Doesn’t this necklace exude the essence of a vintage merlot? Sophisticated and elegant…the wine, yes, as well as the woman who will be wearing this little creation.

  • You may recall my bedroom redo last year around this time. There is nothing I enjoy more in home decorating, than to go shopping in my own house. So, with the recent freshening up downstairs (future posts to come), the damask drapes took a trip upstairs for a chance to try out the master bedroom… Be honest, is this too much? Go ahead, I can handle the truth…even if we don’t agree. *grin* And yes, you did catch a preview of another wee quilt to come!

  • I love the solace and quiet that sewing provides when one is feeling pensive. Idle hands do little for fostering morale. So, when the laundry’s folded, the dishes are put away, and the kids are down, I am occasionally found withdrawn to the retreat of my small sewing table, busy creating and thinking…and making girly baby blankets. To give, to keep, or to finally put in the store.

  • I recently read an article on selfishness from an issue of The Journal For Modern Ministry, a subscription I received as a birthday gift last year from a long-time friend. This article by Lou Priolo caught my attention, as selfishness is a sinful trait that marks, invariably, those we love, work with, minister to…and of course, ourselves. In my fight to love those who may act selfishly towards me in my life, I find my own struggle to love borne out of selfishness notwithstanding. Priolo points out that “selfishness is directly related to sinful fear.” There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 1 John 4:18 “Fear is the opposite of love,” he reminds us, and “love is the opposite of selfishness.” Fear of being hurt, rejected, or taken for granted often […]

  • Have you ever had a Larabar? We are always looking for a good and quick energy/granola bar that is high on fiber and low on sugar. The three ingredients in the Larabar we enjoyed the other day were: dates, cherries, almonds. Surely, I don’t need to pay $2 a bar for that? I got a-brewing in the kitchen, and came up with the following. It has a few more ingredients, but does the trick in providing high energy in a little bar. Individually wrapped in a basket on the kitchen island, these little pick-me-uppers are ready to report for duty at a moment’s notice. Everyone loves them. Except Number 2, who has real issues with all dried fruit and berries. Hmm. With arms waving in the air he passionately asked me to “ig-noh the cwanbe-wies in the constructions.” His royal highness got chocolate chip ones instead. Energy Bars No. 2 […]

  • Our recent trip to the Botanical Garden yielded some healthy face time with some of God’s sweet little critters. While some might consider eating them in a survival situation, we enjoyed them this day under professional supervision. Even with assistance, Number 3 wasn’t quite sure about this friendly exchange with… …a millipede… …a giant coacroach… …and a tarantula… Aren’t all of God’s creatures so lovely?
