  • Do you find that in any great endeavor: parenting, starting a business, higher education, mentoring, church planting, getting married, sticking to a budget, training for a marathon, starting a school, following Christ…there is always a honeymoon period, where excitement and motivation comes readily. As with a marriage, following the honeymoon is often when the really hard work begins: the labor of love that is tenacity, dedication, long-suffering, sacrifice, humility, patience, faith, forgiveness, commitment, and vision. I feel as though this describes the very trenches I find myself in in so many areas of my life at the moment. Nothing is easy. Everything is a choice– to run the race and not look back. Praise the Lord that “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”  (2 Peter 1:3) That, above all […]

  • Rocks, glass, ribbon, ornaments, paint, twine…boy, you ladies came up with some fantastic ideas for the lamp redo contest! So clever and creative were the ideas, however, that I could not bring myself to single one out as my favorite. (I’d really love to give each of the ideas a try!) So…instead of choosing a winner, I decided to go the old fashioned route, and draw a name out of a hat. Literally. No random integer generator necessary! A hat will do just fine. ….and the winner is, Please send me an email with your color preference for a posy pin, and where I can send it to! Congratulations, Christian! Thanks for participating, ladies!

  • If you are a mom, you know about efficiency. You know about needing to be at four places at the same time. You know about cooking while unloading the dishwasher. You know about cleaning, and recleaning the mess your kids made being occupied while you were sprucing things nice. Well, I’ve been taking notice of all the little things I do to stay ahead. I have so far to go with becoming more efficient, but I thought I’d share my list in progress… 1. Buy a container of cleaning wipes to keep under each bathroom sink. When the kids get in the bath, grab one or two, and wipe down the toilet and sink area. Save the deep cleaning for once a week. 2. Flip your hair over when blow-drying your hair; pick up all the random trash, hair ties, and toys that are left by your bathroom sink while […]

  • Anyone can do this. My usual disclaimer: since I don’t measure unless I’m baking, this recipe is up for tweaking and a little intuition. Turn to low, and cook for 8 hours. Shred pork with two […]

  • I’m sad to report that my beloved mercury glass lamp was shattered last week during an altercation between the two youngest boys and a rifle. It was a one-of-a-kind find (of course!) at TJMaxx, and cannot be replaced. The casualties of war. {sigh} So, I’m calling on all you crafty ladies. Since all the working components (even the main structure) of the lamp are still intact, what are your creative ideas for fashioning a new base? If your idea is chosen, I’ll be sending YOU a posie pin in a color of your choice! You have until Friday to leave a comment with your fabulous ideas. Have fun!
