Before sewing, before beading, before tutus and headbands…there was paint and canvas.
Some of you may know that painting is my artistic first love. I don’t do much of it on account of time and space, and had not painted a thing since last year when I did this one for my home, and this one for the school silent auction.
But, a special occasion prompted this painting last week:
…which concurrently brought forth these two paintings,
…that are now in the shop.
“Sterling” 18″x24″
“Bloom” 9″x12″
A little GraceLaced for your home. So…if you or someone you know is in the market for original artwork, send them over to my shop. Thank you!

Beautiful work, Ruth! What I love most about your paintings is how you so boldly and simply depict that which is traditionally handled with softness and delicacy.
The sterling gerber would look fantastic in my guest bedroom…except no one would ever see it! I’d rather have one for my den that I could look at every day. In fact, I’d love to talk with you about my house–can I hire you to come for a decorating consultation?
Just gorgeous! I love the way you placed them on the canvas ~ and how free and beautiful they look without frames. Don’t you love the new “creative edges” they have on canvases these days? Have you seen the options!? One could go berserk.
RUTH!! I love them. You are truly amazing. I need to hire you to teach me how to paint. You are soo good with values, and blending colors together. I love them all. I would love to paint with you one of these days and learn all of your cool tricks and techniques.
Christian–Thanks! I was thinking the same thing about Gerbers–that they are usually delicate and colorful, rather than moody and muted….
Brittany–I’d love to consult with you on your house!
Heather–I love the look of gallery wrapped canvases, especially the 1-2inch ones!
Leslie–I’d love to paint together sometime. Not even my college education really taught me about color and “how to paint” unfortunately…but I’ve picked up on some ways to see and think color…would love to share them.
Looked at your crochet work the other day. . .

for some lampshades. . .
O I eventually got a chance to view them. O, my, beautiful, simply beautiful, my daughter!
You never cease to amaze me. I mean, I knew you could paint, but every time I see a new painting of yours I’m blown away!
