I like the idea of walking to the local farmer’s market, where one buys just what is needed for the next meal. What’s fresh is what’s provided; what’s provided, is what’s to be enjoyed.
To buy a fresh loaf to go with supper…
…tasting, then picking the juiciest heirloom tomatoes for a quick insalata caprese…
…choosing the perfect bunch of golden zinnias to brighten the dinner table…
…and fresh roasted green chiles that taste good on…
….EVERYTHING…
…(shame this is an unscented post–there’s nothing like the aroma of roasted green chiles)…
…and were one to happen upon a farmer’s market by chance…
…the utter beauty of God’s bounty is enough…
…to make one stop and consider how simple and faithful are the daily provisions of the Lord.
Just what is hand-picked, just what is needed, just what is to be enjoyed by His children.

Love the post my sweet! Oh to have a market down the road for just such a daily fare.
Utterly delightful (and beautiful). Reminds me of a verse from one of my favorite hymns…
It can bring with it nothing,
But He will bear us through;
Who gives the lilies clothing,
Will clothe His people too:
Beneath the spreading heavens
No creature but is fed;
And He, who feeds the ravens,
Will give His children bread.

Lovely post! I adore farmer’s markets. I like your son’s shirt. My 12 year old was a Thomas the tank kiddo himself. Enjoy your little ones!
Wow! What farmers market was this? I want to go…
I’d love to have quick access to a market like this. There is something so wonderful about daily shopping for our needs. My great-aunts lived in Seattle and daily walked down a steep hill to go to Market and then hauled it all back up again. I remember them getting fresh salmon, fresh made bread, salad fixings, fresh raspberries. Ahhhh….
Where is this market? Please do tell…(not that it is anywhere near me)
You can find the farmer’s market next to the train station in Santa Fe on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, and Thursday afternoons!
mmmhm. this all looks so pretty, and I’m sure smells so yummy! I am definitely missing the fall weather and foods of NM!! but I come home Saturday…for a week =)
