The boys are always outside storming a castle, hiding in the trenches, rallying the troops, or chucking grenades. Each new baby boy is always swiftly initiated into the games, and it’s been no different with Number 5.

Big brothers build up forts and what they lovingly term “The PPD”: private playing deck, a specially designed and barricaded fortress for their baby brother to stay out of harm’s way while joining the allied forces.

Baby brother keeps watch,

guards the gates,

and tries to figure out which side he’s actually on…really.

Yes, little brothers seem to ruin all the fun. My littlest is 3 now… can’t believe it. He joins in on the all the fun. But we have this higher counter in our kitchen that used to be Nathan-proof. No longer. There’s nowhere to hide from him anymore…

When you have all boys, they all want to play the same things, at the same time…altogether. Is it like that at your house? Because of the games the olders play, we hardly see the little train sets come out anymore for the little guys!

I know. My youngest 2 went right from baby rattles to Star Wars. I didn’t let my oldest watch it until he was 7, but now I let my 3 year old watch it… such a double standard.
