The earth is the LORD'S, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it. -Psalm 24:1
ContactDo you ever find yourself so busy serving the Lord that you’ve neglected intimate worship in his very presence? I’m not referring to merely listening to Christian radio or reading a devotional guide…I’m speaking of utter submission and glory to the “worthship” of Christ. He is worthy; we just don’t always attribute worthiness to Him over ourselves and our own efforts. Here are some thoughts to meditate on from the first few chapters of a simple, but poignant little book I’ve been reading, How To Worship Jesus Christ: “You never drift into being a Mary. You can always drift into being a Martha. All you have to do is just let yourself go. No woman ever drifted into being a Mary.” “Worship is not simple, but it is glorious! Today’s post is a call for change in my life and yours. I’ve been up since 5:45am. Even as I write this, I empathize with all of you who may have slept fitfully last night through many disruptions by young ones in your home. What we treasure and prioritize is evidenced through how we spend our time. While we seek to have time in the Word each day, sometimes we can lack the sweet fellowship of communing with Him as a steady means of provision, rather than a dutiful reaction to the hectic pace of our lives. I’m perennially burdened for the desire to seek first the […]
It’s difficult to wrap our minds around the devastation in Haiti. I rarely watch TV, don’t get the paper, and mostly use the internet for communication…and have only wrestled with what has happened in Haiti in the last day or two (and that, only after reemerging after a family bout with a stomach bug.) My heart is grieved, as is yours, I’m sure. How do we process what has happened in Haiti in the light of our understanding of a good God? Al Mohler helps us wade through it all: The earthquake in Haiti, like every other earthly disaster, reminds us that creation groans under the weight of sin and the judgment of God. This is true for every cell in our bodies, even as it is for the crust of the earth at every point on the globe. The entire cosmos awaits the revelation of the glory of the […]
