  • An Autumn Baby Shower

    This past weekend, I had the pleasure of hosting a joint baby shower for two friends who are due within a week of each other. A laid-back, Fall-themed gathering was enjoyed by all on this brisk September evening. We savored conversations over rich and much-anticipated flavors of Fall and caught up with old friends and new by firelight. With no other agenda but to relax and be refreshed, both guests and expectant moms experienced the best of what a baby shower can offer: Blessing.

  • A Shower For Cinco

    Dearest Cinco, Though a manly bear-cub you may become one day, you were celebrated this past weekend with sweet confections, dainty finger-foods, hand-picked flowers, and lots of warm conversation and laughter among some lovely ladies that will one day be a significant part of your life. A hand-crafted owl mobile made of felt, a delicious cake with an owl topper made of fondant, and cute little owl napkins all served to remind us that the nest is awaiting your arrival. So as you find yourself running out of space in your current abode, know that many who already love you have contributed much to make it a cozy and comfortable transition to all that awaits you. So, go ahead. Come along. We’re ready and waiting…to welcome you home.

  • …because the menu for a purple baby shower would’ve included purple grapes, purple cabbage, eggplant, red onions, blueberry pie, and perhaps lavender cookies. Hmm…not so bad, I suppose. Rather, this past weekend I hosted an orange-themed baby shower for Number 1′s 2nd Grade teacher.  (We are a start-up school, and consequently, have a school board, staff, and parents, that feel like family.) Anyhow, this was a fun theme to work with. If you want to throw an orange party, this post is for you.
